Mission and History

Overview:

Adult Literacy Action Penn State Beaver (ALA) has helped Beaver County residents gain skills essential for entering the workforce, training programs, college, or to pass the GED® Test since 1978. We are funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and private donations. If you are an adult and would like to improve your academic skills or volunteer your time to help, please contact us for additional information.

Mission:

The mission of ALA is to foster education for all people through advocacy, research, training and outreach. ALA provides state-of-the-art instruction to under-educated adults so they may acquire the basic skills necessary to function in society.

History:

Since 1978, ALA has been helping Beaver County residents gain skills essential for success. These skills are taught through ALA’s well-trained network of professional instructors and volunteers. ALA helps adults develop or improve skills in reading, writing, math, family literacy, and workforce development.
